Turkish barbers are skilled at the trimming and maintenance of beards and moustaches and take direction from you to ensure the shape and style are as requested. Often, hot towels are used before trimming to steam the skin and free underlying pores of impurities.

If you are a barber, you'll specialize in performing grooming services exclusively for men with a few exceptions, while as a stylist, you may serve male or female clients. Both barbers and stylists can cut, color, perm or style hair. Only barbers, though, may perform razor shaves for men.

While barbering can be a rewarding career, it can also be physically and mentally demanding. Long hours of standing, high levels of concentration, and dealing with difficult customers can lead to stress and burnout.
